ISSUE BEING DISCUSSED FOR Wednesday, November 21st, 2012

The question of secession has been raised after the election. The logic is that the states are better suited to govern than the federal government. Do you agree?

  • The states are quite possibly and very likely better suited to govern state’s concerns than the federal government is. But which of the states would be able to raise an army to defend its borders? Which of them have the requisite industrial base to provide everything necessary for their security? Would a state turned nation want to depend on another nation to supply them with modern arms adequate to maintain the peace, control drug cartels, and other organized crime? How many states would be able to make a go of it economically? Secession is an idea that is dangerous to the core, especially these days.
