We Must Resist the Temptation to Secession

In face of the great discontent with the current economic and moral crisis we must resist the temptation to simply write off the present system with all its problems. We must avoid the defeatist attitude of those who advocate isolating themselves from society and awaiting better days. In individualist fashion, they would take care of their own little worlds and disregard the cause of the common good.

Nothing could be more contrary to our way of thinking. We cannot abandon our nation in her time of need. It is in times like these that all Americans must show our true mettle; we must resist the selfish option of isolation.  A policy of fragmentation always ends in defeat. Our goal should be that of uniting as many as possible and not shattering the nation into a thousand pieces.

If we leave our country in her time of need what will become of her?

What St. Thomas Says About Immigration

Although it is a tempting proposition to run away from an increasingly morally bereft nation with a failing economy that continues to deny traditional families respect while destroying any sense of integrity in its workers, it is true that we must stick it out and work toward restoring order. After all like taking a vow in a marriage to hang on for better or worse, we regularly pledge allegiance to the United States of America and can’t just turn our backs on our beloved country when she needs us most. Leaders can be adversely affected with power while ruling with general disregard for the common good of the people, but they come and go. We are a nation of the people, by the people, and for the people and can never forget that! Add to that thought  fervent  prayer and a united effort toward making positive changes and we can look forward to better days ahead.
