As part of the discussion, author John Horvat presented considerations based on his book, Return to Order: From a Frenzied Economy to an Organic Christian Society—Where We’ve Been, How We Got Here, and Where We Need to Go. His talk was titled “The Benedict Option and a Return to Order.”

Mr. Horvat looked at the proposal of those who say that one should imitate the strategy of Saint Benedict of Nursia who in the sixth century withdrew to an intensely liturgical life in isolated monastic communities “far from both decadent Rome and raging barbarians.
