Urge Mel Gibson to Find a More Appropriate Actress as Mary In “Resurrection” Film —

Mel Gibson is set to direct a sequel to his well-know “The Passion of the Christ” film, centered on the Resurrection. But quite shockingly, he has decided to include an outspoken pro-abortion actress to portray the role of Mary Most Pure! According to reports

“The long-awaited sequel to The Passion of the Christ [titled The Resurrection of the Christ], now in production at Rome’s Cinecittà Studios, has been completely recast, with Polish actress Katarzyna Smutniak playing Jesus’ mother, Mary.

[…]

“In 2020, after Poland tightened its laws against abortion, Smutniak posted a picture of herself on Instagram with disturbing pro-abortion messages written across her face — ‘This is war,’ ‘the right to abortion.’ ‘F*** off’ — while offering a middle finger to those who oppose abortion.” (Source: LifeSiteNews .com)

This is unthinkable: to have a woman who is outspokenly in favor of abortion and immorality is not only a bad choice, but a blasphemous slight to the most pure Mother of God.

We must ask Mel Gibson to reconsider his choice of the pro-abortion actress in this upcoming portrayal of Our Lady. The film is scheduled to come out in Holy Week of 2027. That means there is still time for Mel Gibson to find an actress who is better suited and who embodies the virtues of the Holy Mother of God rather than one who explicitly opposes them.

Please defend the honor of God and His Holy Mother Mary by telling Mel Gibson to remove this outspoken pro-abortion actress from portraying as Mary Most Pure in the upcoming “Resurrection” film.

Mr. Mel Gibson, Director

I am shocked that you have chooses an outspoken pro-abortion and anti-Catholic actress to portray the character of the Mary most Pure, in your upcoming movie, "The Resurrection of the Christ."

Reports indicate that "Smutniak posted a picture of herself on Instagram with disturbing pro-abortion messages written across her face -- 'This is war,' 'the right to abortion.' 'F*** off' -- while offering a middle finger to those who oppose abortion." (Source: LifeSiteNews .com)

It is not only out-of-place to have such a person portray Our Lady; it is blasphemous and contradictory.

I urgently and prayerfully request that you recast the role of the Blessed Virgin with someone more appropriate.

Sincerely,
