Home Box Office (better known as HBO) is hosting a documentary that favors open Satanism. At the beginning of July 2026, HBO began offering the comedy-documentary Hail Satan? on its streaming site, HBO MAX. This film tries to present Satanism as a “religion” and paint its followers as patriotic citizens.
The documentary Hail Satan? centers around the Satanic Temple (TST) and its activities. The film includes nudity, blasphemy, and Satanic ceremonies. This immorality is consistent with Satanism and with TST. For over a decade, TST has made a name for itself with blasphemy, sacrilege, immorality, and attempts to make Satanism mainstream. Below is a list of its more egregious activities:
1. TST scheduled a public Black Mass on numerous occasions, and claims to have desecrated consecrated hosts in its Black Mass ceremonies;
2. TST is seeking to put up a statue of the devil to counter Ten Commandments monuments;
3. TST targets children to promote Satanism in public schools with After School Satan Clubs to counter Christian clubs;
4. TST has performed public Satanic invocations at town halls, often ending with “Hail Satan”;
5. TST is pushing for abortion access, has opened its own abortion clinics and promotes homosexual “marriage” and “transgender” ideology
If this isn’t enough, Penny Lane, the director of Hail Satan? said of the film:
“… We knew we weren’t going to show… the ritual-type images without providing context as to what those rituals really mean to the people who are participating in them. That was a foundational idea. We wouldn’t just show you upside down crosses and not explain why, for a Satanist, blasphemy is a sort of tool, a personal liberation. Why they take these images from Christianity and destroy or subvert them…

The goal of this film is clear: this is an attempting to make Satanism and blasphemy appear normal and acceptable. And by hosting this documentary, HBO is helping to do so. We must be on our guard: Satanists are not simply any other group of people who just do things differently. Their Satanic activities offend God and frequent involve blasphemy. We must not allow them to destroy the barriers of horror that still surround Satanism and the devil.
