The American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property (TFP) held two regional conferences in California to discuss the fight for temporal society in the West.

On April 26, a TFP regional conference was held at the Anaheim Marriott Suites Hotel in Garden Grove. A day later, a second regional conference took place at the Courtyard Sacramento Midtown Hotel in Sacramento. The first event featured TFP speakers Norman Fulkerson, John Paul Tomba and Michael Whitcraft. Return to Order author John Horvat joined Michael Whitcraft and Norman Fulkerson at the second event. Both events had an atmosphere of conviviality and seriousness that dominated the program and meals.

Conference participants listened intently to John Horvat’s talk titled “We Want God! How a Godless Crusade of the Right Will Not Work.”

As part of the Return to Order campaign, author John Horvat spoke at the events based on insights from his book Return to Order: From a Frenzied Economy to an Organic Christian Society—Where We’ve Been, How We Got Here, and Where We Need to Go.

Norman Fulkerson delivered a talk titled “The Unique Insight of Plinio Corrêa de Oliviera: Ambiences, Customs and Civilizations as a Means of Sanctification.” He illustrated his talk with photos showing how cultural objects and ambiances can influence sociality for good or evil.

Michael Whitcraft discussed “Why Our Fight Is Centered in Temporal Society.” He explained how the errors found in temporal society have often entered into the Church. The TFP’s action in temporal society is an effective way to prevent this infiltration and correct temporal society. His meeting was based on commentaries of Prof. Corrêa de Oliveira. Everyone agreed that the meeting hit the point for these uncertain times.

An added feature at Garden Grove was the meeting of TFP speaker John Paul Tomba, who spoke about how music can influence Counter-revolutionary action and TFP campaigns.

Why America Must Reject Isolationism and Its Dangers

The two events are part of American TFP’s ongoing public actions in California. Sacramento event organizer Philip Calder commented, “I am always impressed about how Our Lady blessed these events. People leave fortified by resolutions to engage in Counter-Revolutionary protests, rallies and meetings.”
